February

So I’ve picked up sewing… this was my attempt at making my own pattern…  Fake it til ya make it right?

So I started dating this boy… Justin Zornes. Rugged, bearded, and took me dancing.  He’s so sweet.

Then LauriAnn had a birthday.  Don’t blame her, she’s a little crazy, but that’s why we love her so much.
Now there is a story I must tell you.  It all began one fateful night last October.  A co-worker gave me a cheesecake that she had meant to take to an event but forgot.  So I took it to girls night.  Well as the night was wrapping up, I was trying to sneak out without taking the remaining slices of cheesecake with me (I don’t need those temptations!).  Well, this wasn’t the first time I’d done that, so LauriAnn was only a half step behind me and ran to my car and put in under my windshield so I would have to take it, but I couldn’t let it end that easily.  So I left it on her doorstep.  Well much to my surprise, when I woke the next morning, it was on MY doorstep.  So here the battle really began.  So since I had lived with LauriAnn I still had a key to their house, so that night I quietly delivered that package back onto their kitchen counter. (so sneaky!)  Two days later after a wonderful Sunday night dinner at her house, I went to my car to find that the cheesecake was in the driver’s seat and my house key had been revoked while I was socializing!  So I placed it in front of the garage in hopes that LauriAnn would run it over in the morning when she left for work.  Alas that didn’t work and it found its way in my BED later that week!  So this is where we started to get creative.  LauriAnn’s sister was getting married in the Tri-Cities and I knew she would be leaving that Wednesday after work.  Well, I happen to work an hour later than LauriAnn and her roomies, so to my pleasant surprise and success, I was able to sneak in the back door after they had all gone to work and to my further success, LauriAnn had already started to pack, so I gently placed the well sealed cheesecake in the bottom of her bag and covered it with the things she had already packed.  IT WORKED!!!!!  She was getting ready for bed that night in the Tri-Cities when she found it!!!!!  She said she screamed she was so “mad”.
Well, through the crazy of the weekend, she forgot it at her sister’s house and I thought it was all over, until one day… So I very rarely get mail and even more rarely do I get mail.  So how excited was I when there was a package waiting for me in my room.  Until I noticed it said it was from:
Alice
Eat me lane
Wonderland USA
Oh ya, I knew what was in it!
Well, so I waited for a few weeks and the next time we went to dinner, I had the server bring it out to us for dessert (luckily by this point it was taped shut and covered in a plastic so no diseases!).  Then LauriAnn solicited one of our jolliest friends to dress up as Santa Clause and bring me a “special” package at our ward Christmas dinner.  That was embarrassing!
So the next step took a while to put into action.  First of all I had to keep it long enough that she didn’t expect a thing.  So I waited until after her b-day.  I even gave her a fresh cheese cake to make her feel like we had put it behind us.  Then I worked my connections.  It just so happened that my boss’s father in law worked at the state hospital where LauriAnn is a social worker.  So I wrapped that puppy up to look pretty as a picture and I trusted it to the hands of Bob.  When the package was delivered LauriAnn received a message there was a package for her from the forensic unit (so the real crazies! Smile) She was so worried to open it.  She said she worried it might be fingers or something!  She went down to the attorney’s office to have a witness and what did she find, but a 8 month old cheesecake!!!!!!!!  (insert evil laugh).  Well, at this point (I’m writing this blog the end of July, 3 days before my departure) there is no update, but I’m pretty sure I’ll find it somewhere in Idaho!

January 2013

Well, now lets see, January.  January 2013 was a good month. There was friend time, including amazing dinner at Ferrante’s (amazing cajun chicken pasta!) and a regional YSA activity with broomball (the classic, less dangerous version of hockey.) I was also able to go home to see the family.  It didn’t go as well as expected because I happened to get a bladder infection while I was there and it made me so tired and not at all fun, but it was good to see everyone.  I got to play in the snow with Connor and Cambree.  Cambree is what I would call mischievous, which makes me so excited for when she’s older and we can pull all sorts of pranks on her mom! Smile

It can’t be too cold when you’re running around this much!

Well, the month of December was full of all sorts of exciting things.  To start off with, LauriAnn and I got invited by some people in our stake to go watch a men’s Gonzaga basketball game.  Now, I know you don’t understand how cool that is yet, so let me explain.  Spokane Washington LOVES!!!!! Gonzaga basketball!!! I mean they really, really love it.  The next thing you need to know is that their stadium is teeny tiny in comparison to the love that is felt for them.  The next thing you need to know is the majority of the available seats (if not 98% of them go to season ticket holders.  So how much does just a regular seat cost? oh around 80 smackers.  So to get to go to a Gonzaga basketball game is really something special.  And it was a lot of fun.

LauriAnn has lived in Spokane for 10 years now and this was her first game she attended.  She was pretty excited!  Oh and guess who’s the number 1 men’s basketball team in the nation right now?  OH YEAH!!!! GONZAGA!!!! Smile  They’ve sucked me in haven’t they? Smile
The next thing you’ll notice is a very fun picture of me with my Alec Trebeq mustache.  Smile
My roomies are both law students at Gonzaga and they wanted to play finals week jeopardy.  So the natural host would be me, but a mustache was necessary!  They are so funny!  I sure do love them!

LauriAnn and I went to see the Nutcracker Ballet this year.  I had never been and I loved it!  So fun!

Before everyone left for Christmas break we had a White Elephant party at our house.  My gift was a crocheted  beard!

It turned out better than expected and we all had to try it on before the party began! I won a Justin Bieber poster and was completely satisfied!

My roomies both left for Christmas break a full week before Christmas and since they knew I wouldn’t be going home for Christmas they threw a surprise Christmas party!  It was so sweet and made me feel so special.
They gave me a really cute clutch and a pair of socks and then wrapped all sorts of random things we had around the house!  It was fun!  I love my roommates and feel so blessed to have them in my life!
btw, Christmas really did turn out pretty good.  Mom sent me a wonderful package, I had Christmas eve dinner with my bishop and his family and then Christmas day LauriAnn and I went to watch Les Miserables, which was wonderful!  Really, for being away from my family and those I love the most, it turned out to be a not so bad day!
Geeze, December was a full month!  I also had a work Christmas party.  I love my co-workers and have a lot of fun at work when we have time! Smile  We’re super busy the great majority of the time so a party was great to just hand out and wear our ugly sweaters!!!! Smile

We do Sunday night dinners each week at someone’s house.  We had one particularly fun breakfast dinner at LauriAnn’s.

Now, first you have to know that LauriAnn is a great cook, so as I sat watching her burn the sausage, I kept saying they were looking a little dark, but somehow denial was working really well for LauriAnn and she cooked them for a few more minutes.  At that point they were almost unedible.
It took the whole dinner to finally get her to admit that maybe, just maybe something went wrong! Smile

And Finally the nun story!  These two ladies happen to be my co-workers and not nuns at all! Sam, on the right, is actually our mental health ARPN and Marsha is our records specialist and is actually LDS! Smile  They were on their way to a showing of the Sound of Music.  There was to be a costume contest too, so they really showed up didn’t they? Smile
Phew!   That is the month of December!
